WN111v2 is the first product from NETGEAR using this breakthrough technology giving us the highest performance and range compared to the much bigger size Wireless-N USB adapters. This saves space and gives the ability to reduce the size of the adapter. WN111v2 uses a patented microantenna technology that provides the best performance and range seen in the optimal spaced antennas but at a fraction of the antenna spacing requirement. If the optimal distance between the antennas is not maintained, it has poor performance as seen in few small formfactor Wireless-N USB adapters currently in the market. Hence, most of our competing USB solutions and NETGEAR’s previous generation WN121T had large casings or docking stations to have room to space out the antennas. Wireless-N antennas typically need to be spaced 3 inches apart for optimum performance at 2.4 GHz frequency.
