The low setting is essentially useless as it doesn’t pump out enough air to make a difference. The fan comes in two speeds that can be toggled by pressing a button underneath the mouse. The openings basically serve an aerating function as well, especially when combined with this mouse’s standout feature - its built in-fan.

Then again, those holes aren’t just for looks. Combined with its LED lights, the mouse definitely pops out. The mouse is filled with several holes that are almost akin to a coral reef pattern. The other reason why bystanders were also attracted to the Zephyr, however, is its unique open design. The blinking and bright settings can just be a bit too distracting so I just pick the most muted cycle. Many of the patterns are a bit too loud, and that’s coming from someone who loves LED lighting.

The patterns range from fast blinking to smoother transitions. The Zephyr comes with seven preset lighting patterns that cycle through the entire lighting spectrum. I’ve had several people actually stop and ogle at the white variant that I was sent after I left it in the kitchen while connected to my laptop. Visually, the mouse is sure to turn some heads. The company also plans to add a 400 DPI setting to the final version. Right below the scroll wheel is a mouse sensitivity button for adjusting mouse speed from 800 DPI all the way to 16,000 DPI. On the left side are forward and back buttons, making it more conducive for right-handed users. You’ve got your left and right top buttons as well as a clickable scroll wheel. A rundown of the Zephyr’s featuresįeatures are standard for a gaming mouse. As such, the device will still undergo some changes prior to the final release version that will be sent to the Zephyr gaming mouse’s Kickstarter backers. One caveat is that the review unit I was sent is a pre-production prototype model that was 3D-printed as opposed to the precision mold that will be used for the production version. After trying the device for about a month, however, I believe there’s some merit to the approach - even though the Zephyr’s implementation isn’t quite perfect.
